April 2025, UAE: Hotpack has released its Corporate Carbon Footprint Report 2024, reinforcing its commitment to climate action and environmental responsibility across the MENA region. This document offers a transparent look at the company’s environmental impact and highlights Hotpack’s role as a catalyst for climate-positive change in the packaging industry.
The report assesses emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 for the period January to December 2024. Hotpack’s total carbon footprint amounted to 53,320 tons of CO₂ equivalent, with:
-
Direct emissions (Scope 1): 16,963 tons
-
Electricity-related emissions (Scope 2): 30,579 tons
-
Supply chain and logistics activities (Scope 3): 5,777 tons
Major contributors to direct emissions included diesel fuel use and transportation logistics, while Scope 3 emissions were driven largely by waste disposal and third-party logistics.
Hotpack has set ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets for 2035:
-
Cutting Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 63% from the 2024 baseline
-
Reducing Scope 3 emissions by 37.5% per unit of value added
Key initiatives supporting these goals include installing solar panels at National Industries Park, which alone reduces 1,393 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually, and adopting energy-efficient equipment, LED lighting, and water-saving systems.
Furthermore, Hotpack has proactively shifted to hybrid and electric vehicles. They have also reevaluated ongoing collaborations with suppliers and employees to achieve lower-carbon operations. The company is integrating robust sustainability frameworks to strengthen transparency and accountability. These frameworks include:
-
GRI (Global Reporting Initiative)
-
ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance)
-
ECOVADIS – a globally recognised assessment platform that rates businesses’ sustainability based on environmental impact, labour and human rights standards, ethics, and procurement practices.
Hotpack’s 2024 report reaffirms its alignment with global climate goals, including the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C pathway. By publishing this data annually and driving continuous improvements, Hotpack underscores its leadership in climate-conscious manufacturing and sets a precedent for sustainable business practices in the packaging sector.
